Carenage Lotto booth operator robbed at gunpoint

A Lotto booth operator was held up at gunpoint on Tuesday night and robbed of $3,800 from the cash register.

Around 7.05 pm Ann Marie Bartholomew was at the Lotto booth at Haig Street and Abbe Poujade Street, Carenage when she heard a noise and a masked man with a gun ordered her to hand over all the money.

After he ran off she told nearby residents, who called the police, who searched for the man. .

Police are bracing for more similar robberies in which Lotto booth operators are now being targeted.

Investigators said they will hold an emergency meeting with the NLCB to discuss security arrangements to protect booth operators.
