Arima man shot dead

A 32-YEAR-OLD Arima man was shot dead minutes after leaving his home at Maturita Village, shortly after 8.39 am yesterday.

According to reports, Ashton Torres was last seen alive by his mother Josanne Raymond, around 8.25 am.

Raymond told police she saw her son getting into a silver-coloured car outside their home and she later heard gunshots.

Raymond said when she made a check, she saw Ashton lying on the road, a short distance away.

Neighbours rushed the victim to the Arima Hospital where he died around 9.20 am. Torres is the country’s 12th murder victim for the year. Investigators are working on information that he was killed by someone known to him.

No arrest has been made and investigations are continuing.
