Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan said although police officer do their work on one end, the judiciary must do their part to deal with offending drivers.

In an interview today Sinanan said there is a “lack” in the system that must be addressed.

On Thursday, Criminologist Darius Figueira suggested that failure to prosecute drivers who don’t pay their fines will result in continued lawbreaking.

When asked if he agreed with the statement, Sinanan said, "While I do not want to comment on the judiciary policing part of it, I do agree that when a lot of people get a ticket they don’t comply because somewhere down the line they feel the system will not check up with them."
