Charles: We’re isolated on Venezuela

OPPOSITION MP Rodney Charles says TT is diplomatically isolated in its support for the regime of Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro as other countries have refused to recognise the legitimacy of the South American leaders second term.

He was responding to Foreign and Caricom Affairs Minister Dennis Moses attending Maduro’s inauguration yesterday even as the US, European Union and other countries had condemned his return to power. “I think that Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley will be well advised to adopt a more nuanced policy towards Venezuela in which he acts not as an uncritical supporter of Maduro but instead be an honest broker bringing the contending forces to the table to develop a sustainable solution to the problems in Venezuela.”
