DEFENDING divisional champions Fire will open their Premiership account in the Courts All Sectors Netball against Defence Force tomorrow at 5.30 pm, in the final match of five fixtures carded to play at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua. The match is one of three Premiership Division matches on the day.

The opening round of the Championship Division league competition will also begin today with two matches, starting with Jabloteh taking on newcomers Miscellaneous Laventille at 12.30 pm.

The first Premiership Division match of the first round will follow immediately after from 1.45 pm between Las Lomas and UTC. The third match will feature the second Championship Division fixture, with Defence Force taking on TSTT from 3 pm, followed by a second Premiership Division match between Police and Police Youth Club (PYC) at 4.15 pm before the fifth match – the feature fixture – between Fire and Defence Force.

The league will resume on Monday with two Retro Division matches and one Championship Division match.

The 29th season of the Courts All Sectors Netball League was launched on Saturday at the same venue with an opening-day knock-out competition for the Premiership, Championship and Alternative Divisions. They were played in a shortened format.

Fire made a strong statement, winning the opening-day title with a 6-3 victory over PYC. TSTT captured the Championship Division's equivalent after a 7-2 win over Bermudez. Bermudez went on to win the Alternative Division opening-day knock-out competition with a 5-1 win over MIC.

The league began in the four-team Retro Division on Monday, before the Alternative Division started on Tuesday. Six of the Alternative Division's eight teams were in action with Bermudez, UWI X and UWI Y all recording wins.

Bermudez were back in action last evening, seeking a second win against a Jabloteh team who lost to UWI Y 14-16 in their opening match. Yesterday's matches concluded after press time.

Alternative Division - Bermudez 23 vs Defence Force 7; UWI (Y) 16 vs Jabloteh 14; UWI (X) 24 vs Las Lomas 10.
