Cops continue search for 5 escapees

NORTHERN Division police are still searching for five men who escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) in Aripo on December 20. Police believe they are being hidden by criminal elements.

Reports are that at 11.30 pm, Cpl Jeanville and a team assigned to the Arima Criminal Investigations Department (CID) were told that the detainees escaped from the IDC.

When they went to the Centre, they discovered a hole cut in the roof by the escapees who then climbed a wall and escaped. Several areas near to the centre were searched.

The five are Krishna Bailey, a 22-year-old Jamaican; Ryan Badal, a 23-year-old Guyanese and Venezuelans Rodney Noel Reyes Mendoza, 24; Jose Luis Ramirez Yanez, 27; and 32-year-old Luis Carlos Sifontes. Authorities at the IDC have since increased security.
