GOAL-SHOOT Michelle Boyce connected with 25 goals from 37 attempts as she led Les Enfants to a narrow 31-29 opening win in the Retro Division of the Courts All Sectors Netball League on Monday.

The Retro Division opened league action for the four divisions at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua.

Boyce's 25-goal haul was instrumental for Les Enfants as Jabloteh made a last-gasp effort to sneak a result late in the fourth quarter.

Jabloteh had started well as they held a three-goal advantage by the end of the first period, before Les Enfants took control in the second and third period to hold a 25-19 lead by the fourth.

Despite Jabloteh outscoring their opponents 10-6 in the last quarter, it was Les Enfants who celebrated an early lead in the Retro Division standings.

Barbara Britto was Les Enfants' second most effective player with six goals in 10 tries. Goal-shoot Julia Britto and goal-attack Sherry Thomas led Jabloteh's efforts, with 18 goals from 27 attempts and 10 goals from 16 attempts respectively.

There was one other Retro Division match on the day, a low scoring encounter, in which Police defeated TSTT 21-16. For Police, Donna Charles stood out with 15 goals after 26 attempts, followed by Beverly Hernandez with six goals from 12. TSTT's goal-shoot Camille Aubin and goal-attack Debra Alie both scored eight goals. TSTT were ahead at the end of the first period, but Police took charge soon after and maintained control for the rest of the match.

The Retro Division will resume on Monday with TSTT and Les Enfants meeting from 5.30 pm, before Jabloteh and Police clash from 6.20 pm.

League matches in the Alternative Division began yesterday and will continue today with a triple-header. Defending league champions PYC will make their debut against TT Post from 6.20 pm.

The Championship Division and Premiership Division will begin on Saturday.
