CHAIRMAN of The Rahamut Group of Companies Azard Rahaman has commended Evergreen Sports and Cultural Club on its successful 2018 cricket season.
At the club’s prize-giving ceremony recently, Rahaman congratulated the club on an excellent record in both T20 and league competitions. Evergreen’s 1st team finished second in the league, and their reserves placed in the top three in the T20 and 30-over competitions.
Rahaman also congratulated the club for the introduction of an under-17 team, the rejuvenation of its women’s team, the success of the over-40 team, and the successful joint effort with South Warriors to send a team to the Ontario Under-18 Tournament.
In expressing The Rahamut Group’s pride in Evergreen’s success, and its satisfaction as the club sponsor since 2000, Rahaman also confirmed its commitment to continue to support the club in the future. He highlighted the power of sport, particularly cricket, to teach life lessons and uplift communities.
He stressed its importance by quoting South African legend Nelson Mandela. He said, “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire.
It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair.”
The evening ended with the distribution of prizes including recognition of 2018’s outstanding performers.
