3 arrested after $90 taxi heist

Three people, including a minor, are in police custody after they robbed a St James taxi driver of $90 and a gold chain last night.

Police said at around 9 pm, the trio approached the man who was plying his taxi for hire along the Western Main Road, St James. They asked to be taken to Port of Spain.

As they approached downtown, one of the men ordered the man to hand over his money and his gold chain.

The men then attempted to steal the car but the driver resisted and raised an alarm.

The three men ran out of the car.

The driver made a report to the St James Police Station and members of the Western Division Task Force responded, arrested the trio a short distance away.

Two of the men are aged 18 and 22-years-old.
