The mother of missing 16-year-old Shindlar Cuffy believes the woman who is linked to her daughter’s dissapearance is attempting to devise a plan to take the teenager out of the country.

Shondel Shallow strongly believes her daughter is still in the country and is calling on the authorities to step up their search before it is too late.

“This woman said my daughter is never coming home. She wants to take my little girl away and I think out of the country and I really don’t know why. What does she want with my daughter, who is this Mother Clare?” an emotional Shallow told Newsday. The woman, known as ‘Mother Clare,’ is believed to be head of an religious organisation which Shallow described as a cult. Shallow said the woman continues to send audio messages spreading lies that she has been abusive towards her daughter.

“She wants everyone to think I was abusive towards my little girl and that is not true. Why is this woman doing this? This is my daughter. What does she want with my daughter? Please, please just let her go,” Shallow pleaded. Shallow said she believes her daughter is being kept against her will and threatened to say that she is okay.

“I know my little girl is not okay. I know she is not safe wherever she is and wants to come home. I am her mother, I know.” Last week in an audio clip addressed to the mother, by the religious leader, told Shallow the teenager was not her property and was loaned to her by God.

The woman has a foreign accent.

Cuffy is believed to have been lured into a cult and renamed Rainbow. In the audio clip, the woman said she was not the teenager’s God, but was the one who saved her. “She is alive and she will not return.” The woman continued, “Dear parents, she still loves you and wants to be connected but not living under your roof. On September14, 2002, a beautiful child was born to you do you remember? Even though she bears the stigma of being an albino, God has put in her an extraordinary heart.” the woman said.

She said her hope was to open the eyes and hearts of not only Cuffy’s parents, but parents everywhere to see their children in a new light.

“Your daughter is not a child anymore. Please don’t waste your time blaming others and me. Rainbow is happy. She is now entering adulthood.” The woman went on to add that in TT’s law ‘a 16-year-old can be released from her family and into the care of an adult over 18-years who is responsible. “And Rainbow now has someone like that,” she said in the audio clip.

She added, “I am not Rainbow’s Lord, Jesus is, and he speaks to her and shows her many things. He is the one who directed me to write the letter to you,” She ended the message to the parents saying, “And let me just clarify to you. We are not a cult. I am a Christian pastor who reaches out to help people.”

The audio was released on January 2 by what appeared to be a “religious” group named Still Small Voice, which is headed by ‘Clare’.

On November 26, Cuffy and her mother walked to Southern Main Road, Claxton Bay, where she left in an AD wagon to go to school. She did not show up for classes and that was the last time anyone saw the form five student.

On Christmas Eve, while tidying Cuffy’s bedroom, Shallow found a handwritten letter from her daughter which said the Lord sent her on a mission and she must obey.

Police are still reviewing the audio clips to find clues to help them find the missing girl. The Anti-Kidnapping Unit are investigating.
