EMA invites comments on draft waste rules

Between now and February 28, the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) is asking members of the public to share comments and opinions on the Draft Waste Rules 2018 and the Waste Management (Registration and Permitting) Rules 2018.

The draft rules, available on the EMA's website, focuses on the disposal and handling of waste. The draft can also be found at all 14 regional corporations.

The EMA said the intent of the rules is to support and strengthen the existing waste management system through effective monitoring and enforcement.

Section 55 to 58 of the Environmental Management Act Chap.35:05 outlines the responsibilities of the EMA in the regulation of waste management.
