Bandits nabbed with stolen items after home invasion

Two Morvant bandits were arrested after they were left behind by their accomplices during a robbery.

Police believe that with the arrest of the two men, ages 19 and 23, they may be able to solve at least three other home invasions which took place in Valsayn and Tunapuna last week.

Police say, last Wednesday Vivek Saksena of College Road, St Augustine, was at his home around 11.35 pm when two men entered the house and robbed him of of $5,500, a gold chain with pendant valued $5,000, a laptop and other electronic items.

They then took him to another room in the house and robbed him of a television valued $7,500 and other items valued $29,000.

As the bandits were placing the stolen items into a waiting car assisted by three accomplices, neighbours tipped off police who quickly arrived on the scene.

The three accomplices who were assisting the two other bandits managed to flee the scene leaving behind the two Morvant bandits.

The suspects were arrested and some of the stolen items recovered.

Police searched for the suspects in their getaway car but they managed to elude arrest.
