Nail technician Priya Harricharan was not only recognised for her talent in nail artistry but for the care she showed to all her clients.

Sadly, on Friday morning Harricharan, 35, was found hanging in her salon at Nalini For Hair at Balmain, Couva. Her death has left family members shocked and confused.

According to police, at about 10 am, a hairdresser who worked at the salon found Harricharan's body with a rope around her neck, tied to an iron rod connected to the ceiling. A district medical officer pronounced Harricharan dead and ordered her body be taken to the Forensic Science Centre, St James for an autopsy.

Harricharan's brother, Ravi Singh, told Newsday today that she was always smiling and "full of life."

"I just can't understand why. My sister was never sad or suicidal. Everytime you saw Priya she was smiling. Everyone loved her," he said. His sister loved her job and was very passionate about it, he said. Couva police said the autopsy results would determine if Harricharan's death was a suicide or a homicide.
