Relatives ID murder victim No. 1

Relatives of Daniel Mahabir, the country’s first murder victim for the year, yesterday went to the Forensic Science Centre (FSC) and identified him.

Mahabir, of Bamboo Settlement, was killed early on Tuesday at Sea Lots. His body was found around 10.30 am near the Suck-ah- Sweetie scrapyard at Concession Drive, Sea Lots.

Mahabir was found with a concrete block on his head, prompting investigators to believe he may have been involved in an argument before being killed.

Neighbours said Mahabir often slept at the scrapyard where his body was found.

Yesterday relatives declined to be interviewed but vowed to ensure that justice was served.

An autopsy showed Mahabir died from blunt force trauma.
