Penal man singing, dancing, drinking, then found dead

A 60-YEAR-OLD Penal man who was seen singing, dancing and drinking rum was later found dead near the side of the road on New Year’s Day. Villagers saw Kazim Lallah’s body near his Clarke Road, Penal home. Lallah was last seen alive at 2pm walking around the village with bottles of alcohol.

One neighbour told Newsday Lallah was in a joyful mood. “He was singing, dancing and drinking and walking around with bottles of rum in his hands.” Lallah, they said, wasalso greeting villagers in their homes with “Happy New Year” wishes while dancing.At about 5.45pm another neighbour saw Lallah’s body in the road. He was not breathing. Neighbours tried in vain to resuscitate him. Residents described Lallah’s death as sad but said he was a chronic drinker. An autopsy is expected to be done on Lallah’s body today to determine the cause of death. Penal police are investigating.
