Prof Andrew Jupiter has resigned from the boards of the National Gas Company (NGC) and its subsidiary, TT NGL Ltd, effective December 31, 2018.

NGC did not immediately announce Jupiter's resignation from the state gas company's board, but because of reporting requirements, as a publicly listed company on the TT Stock Exchange (TTSE), TT NGL was obligated to announce this material change to the structure of its board to its shareholders. NGC announced Jupiter's resignation from TT NGL in an advertisement dated January 2.

"Prof Jupiter has served the boards well and made great contributions to the NGC," group chairman Gerry Brooks told Newsday in a brief phone call, confirming Jupiter's resignation from the boards. Brooks said Jupiter would prefer at this time to focus on his work with the University of the West Indies, where he is part of the Petroleum Studies Unit in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He will still make himself available to the NGC, Brooks added.
Jupiter joined the NGC board in 2015.

He was also appointed chairman of Petrotrin in 2015, but resigned from the former state oil company in 2017. Jupiter is stalwart of the local energy industry, and served as permanent secretary in the Energy Ministry from 1998 to 2004. It is unclear who, if any, will replace him on the boards. NGC's current board members are now Brooks, former Petrotrin president Kenneth Allum and engineer Marcus Ganness.

TT NGL's board include Brooks and Allum, along with businessmen Vivek Charran and Ashmeer Mohammed.
