TUCO Starts De Carnival today

THE Trinbago Unified Calypso Organisation (TUCO) kicks off Carnival 2019 with its annual Start D Carnival fete today at the Grand Stand Courtyard, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.
Proceeds from the event titled a Touch of White will go to the TUCO Welfare Fund which helps calypsonians who may need medical assistance or other types of funding. This year the fund helped one TUCO member who was impacted by the flooding in October.
“Every year we have this fete in aid of our Welfare Fund to take care of the membership,” said Joseph Adams trustee and operations manager of TUCO.

“There are a number of elderly calypsonians and our membership from time to time end up with health problems or disaster strikes and they need help. This fund allows us to assist in some way,” Adams said.
This is the fifth year TUCO is hosting the Start D Carnival fete and Adams expects close to 1,000 people to turn out.

Iwer George and SuperBlue will be the headline guests performers, with bands such as the A-Team, Brass to the World, Pan Mas Rhythm Section also in the line-up. Other entertainment will also come from DJs Kabuki, Sir Charles and Sensational Sammy.
Tickets cost $150 each are available at the gates which open at 5pm.
