Together we can rescue the country

THE EDITOR: It is time to end the messages of doom and gloom. This ought to be the year we the people say no to racial dog whistle messages from our politicians and public figures.

No to obscene description of those who dared to offer themselves to the service of TT.

No to comments that disparage our people and our land, especially since those comments are now circulated worldwide.

No to those with ill intentions who seek to transform our communities into hot spots and turf.

No to criminals who seek to destroy our peace.

We have a lot of work to do. A nation to save, a land to restructure and a people to inspire.

Our old people need the assurance that their labours were not in vain. We must give them the assurance that their healthcare, water supply, homes and savings are safe and in good hands.

Our youths need to know that their hard work in school was not in vain as we utilise their talent in the rebuilding of the country.

To all the diehard party supporters who want only to see their race, their party, their sect in service regardless of how much it divides and destroys our nation, we must say your time is over.

As we start 2019, we should commit to ending the era of dependence on the few for political spoils. We ought to begin the year with a determination to work together hand in hand, community by community, in partnership with our public servants, service personnel, business community, places of worship, panyards, cultural groups and aspiring politicians to rescue TT from the few, those with parasitic agendas, and return our land to the people. Together we can rebuild our land.

A true asset
