FORMER PAKISTAN and Bangladesh cricket team coach Richard Pybus is set to become the next coach of the West Indies team, according to CEO of Cricket West Indies (CWI) Johnny Grave.

In a telephone interview today, Grave said that no other person is being considered at this time to take up the mantle of coach, after the departure of ex-Australia batsman Stuart Law, after the WI tour of India, in November.

South African Nic Pothas (the WI team fielding coach) and Barbadian Floyd Reifer shared the coaching duties during the recent tour of Bangladesh.

Grave confirmed that the impending appointment of his fellow Englishman, the 54-year-old Pybus (who is currently the CWI high performance director), will be a short-term one, until the end of the India tour of the Caribbean in September.

The CWI will also be looking at a long-term coach, at least for a two-year stint, after the India tour.
