We deserve better

THE EDITOR: A lot of TT citizens have the mentality that it is okay for certain things to continue to occur here in this nation because they say it is happening all over the world. This type of thinking is tragic and unfortunate and is one of the main reasons why we have not attained the first-class development that we rightly deserve in this country. It's this same mentality of a child when trying to explain away bad behaviour. The child's excuse is, "All the other kids were doing it too." A wise parent replies, "That doesn't mean you have to do it."

A successful health care system means a system that works for all of us, not just a few. Some people are bold enough to boast when someone from their family had a successful surgery in Trinidad. A few successful surgeries does not make it first class.

Too many people are losing their lives when otherwise they could have been saved. Its time to stop defending the Government for free. You have absolutely nothing to gain by doing it. It's time to fight and hurt and feel the pain of the people who lost their lives needlessly and suffered unfair neglect in the nation's hospitals with a health care system that does not work for the benefit of all of us.

Some are fighting to defend a Government that continues to fail this country and the very same people who voted for them. It's time to demand first-class health care. We and our loved ones deserve it.
