Man chops wife after argument on Christmas Day

A PENAL man who chopped his wife on Christmas night after a heated argument has been charged with malicious wounding.

Thee man is expected to face a Siparia magistrate on Monday morning.

According to a police report at about 10pm the couple were at their Wilson Road, Penal home when an argument started.

Reports said the man left the room and returned with a cutlass.

He then chopped his wife to her head, abdomen and hands.

Neighbours alerted police to the woman’s screams Penal CID officers went to the house and were forced to break open the front door when they heard the woman screaming.

They found the woman on the ground bleeding and the man standing with a cutlass in his hands.

The man was arrested and later charged with malicious wounding.

His wife was rushed to the Siparia Health Facility where she was treated and discharged.

Penal CID are investigating.
