Barataria woman in hospital after home fire

A Barataria woman is warded at the burn centre at Mt Hope Hospital for first-degree burns she suffered in a fire at her home last night.

Fire officers said Jadeo Ramnath, her husband, and daughter were at home at about 9 pm when the fire started. Ramnath and her husband were in a bedroom while the daughter was watching television in the living room.

San Juan firefighters went to extinguish the blaze.
Investigators say the fire began in a bedroom ceiling, leaving the two bedrooms completely burnt.

While the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, fire officers believe it was electrical.
