Parliament passed 18 out of 26 laws in 2018

PARLIAMENT managed to pass 16 out of the approximately 26 pieces of legislation which the Government brought to it this year. These laws were passed between the third and fourth sessions of the 11th Parliament.

The Anti-Gang 2018 Bill; Anti-Terrorism Amendment Bill 2018; Finance Bill 2017; Valuation of Land (Amendment) Bill 2018; Payments into Court Bill 2018; Property Tax (Amendment) Bill 2018 and Income Tax Amendment Bill 2018 were among the bills passed in Parliament and assented to by President Paula-Mae Weekes.

Among the bills still pending before the Parliament are the TT Revenue Authority Bill 2018; Whistleblower Protection Bill 2018; Constitution (Amendment Tobago Self-Government) Bill 2018 and the Cybercrime Bill 2017. The House of Representatives and Senate are currently on Christmas recess. Sittings are expected to resume sometime next month.
