Govt must help in crime fight

THE EDITOR: As the murder rate continues to rise at an alarming and frightening rate there seems to be only one person committed to making a difference.

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith is doing a superb job targeting the criminals by disrupting their operations and offering some hope to the many victims of crime.

However, in spite of the strides being made by Griffith and his team, a new virus has developed that could destroy what little hope we have. It’s called Griffith dependence syndrome.

Griffith needs the support of the Minister of National Security and the Government, who are distracted by other matters, to reduce crime. We cannot afford to enter 2019 with the burden of crime on the shoulders of one man.

We need new governance that will fight crime holistically by supporting and working alongside the top cop.
