Siparia couple arrested, drugs found in BMW

A SIPARIA couple was arrested after over $15,000 worth of marijuana was found hidden in the trunk of their BMW car on Christmas eve. The 33-year-old man and 25-year-old woman have since been charged and will appear before a magistrate later this week. According to a police report, on Monday police were on patrol when they spotted the car parked along Villabrera Street in Siparia. Upon seeing the police van, the driver began to reverse the BMW at high speed. In an attempt to escape, he crashed into a car parked near the road which belonged to an off-duty policeman. Police gave chase and the man and woman were detained. When police searched the car they found the drugs hidden in the trunk. Siparia CID officers are investigating.
