Doctor beaten, robbed, left bleeding

A 37-YEAR-OLD doctor spent his Christmas in severe pain after he was attacked by five teenagers and savagely beaten on Christmas Eve before being robbed and left bleeding on the pavement.

Police sources said that the doctor was walking alone Seventh Avenue in Barataria at 1.30 pm when the five youths, who the doctor later told police appeared to be between the ages of 14 and 18, surrounded him. The doctor said he tried to escape but was grabbed and thrown to the ground.

He said he was kicked, cuffed and stamped on for over ten minutes by the five while no one intervened. Dazed and bleeding, the doctor was then robbed of $5,000, a gold chain worth an undisclosed sum and a $3,000 Samsung cellphone. The youths then walked off.

The doctor later made a report to the Barataria police and he was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Centre in Mt Hope where he was treated and warded for several hours before being discharged. Up to press time, no arrests were made and investigations are continuing.
