Senior officers in the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) believe that there may be someone buying military fatigues, including camouflage clothing from the same manufacturer that supplies equipment to the TT Regiment, after over 100 rounds of ammunition, a bulletproof vest and camouflage clothing were found at a house in Sea Lots this afternoon.

Police found the items at an abandoned house at Production Drive, Sea Lots while on a crime eradication exercise at around 2 pm. The ammunition included 106 rounds of .9mm, 40 caliber and .30 rounds.

Newsday visited the IATF, El Socorro headquarters and spoke to Snr Supt Simboondath Rajkumar who said the camouflage clothing did not have any regimental numbers attached.

He believed the fatigues may have been recently purchased from the same supplier to the protective services.

"What is amazing is the army uniform when issued, has a regimental number to whom it is issued. This uniform does not have that. It seems to me there is some inside link to the stores which needs to be checked.

"I am going to pass on this uniform to the major tomorrow when he is here to have internal inquiries conducted to determine whether this is the case or not.

"We are not going to give up. We want to make sure that east Port of Spain will be safe for anyone to traverse and live in."

In an unrelated incident, the members of the IATF also found six rounds of ammunition in a plastic bag at Bulding 32, at the corner of Queen and Nelson Streets in Port of Spain.

The ammunition was found in the bathroom of the top floor of the building.

Constable St Louis is continuing investigations.
