STREET vendors are being given priority by San Fernando Mayor Junia Regrello for sales today and tomorrow.

The city corporation erected tents on High Street for the vendors who were also given tables and clothing racks.

Penitence Street was also closed-off to vehicular traffic creating a street mall, and barriers prevented cars from going up on High Street.

Regrello, who was on High Street making a purchase, told Newsday, “I am happy to patronise the vendors who have been doing business in the streets of the city for many years.”

He said the tents on High Street gave vendors a more dignified appearance.

"We want people to enjoy shopping in the city.”
