Bleak Christmas for SRPs

Over 3,000 Special Reserve Officers (SRPs) are bracing for a bleak Christmas as a result of a delay by the Police Finance Branch to pay salaries before the holiday.

The SRPs were told their salaries would be in the bank by Thursday but when they checked their respective commercial banks they were told no salaries were sent for processing.

SRPs were also told that banks will be closing early on Monday and if salaries were not sent in time, it may not be processed until next Thursday or Friday.

Senior Finance Branch officers confirmed the delay in the processing of salaries but added that every effort was being made to sort out the problem.
