Attempted murder, suicide in Siparia

A man went to the home of his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend and shot at her and her family, wounding her brother, before reportedly killing himself early today.

Police said Dillon Bedassie, 24, went to the house at Syne Village, Siparia, at about 3.30 am and began shooting.

Neighbours heard several shots and later found Bedassie with a gunshot wound to the head on the back steps of the house. A gun was near his body.

The girl's brother was found bleeding and is being treated at hospital.

Snr Supt Basdeo, Insp Corrie and Nemai, Sgt Jaggernauth and other officers of the South Western Division and Homicide Bureau Region III visited the scene.

Sgt Jaggernauth is investigating.
