Rapist killed in Arima forest identified

The three men killed in a shootout with Arima police were described as demons.

They were wanted for a series of home invasions, rapes and other violent crimes in the Northern and Eastern divisions.

Relatives identified the men as Teddy Singh, 26, Keron Joseph, 21, and Clase Phillip, 23, all of Arima.

The trio were killed in a forest area in Maturita shortly after 10.30 am yesterday.

They were wanted in connection with the chopping of a 35-year-old man of Dump Road, Arima and the violent assault of a family of three.

The crimes took place on Monday night and Northern Division police acting on information went to a shack inside the densely forested area at Maturita where they confronted the three suspects.

The men returned fire and when the smoke cleared, two guns and a number of stolen items were recovered.
