La Romaine man critical after shooting

A 38-year-old La Romaine cyclist remains in critical condition at the San Fernando General Hospital after being fired upon more than 20 times by two gun-toting men shortly after 4.10 pm yesterday

According to reports Samuel Montano of La Romaine was riding his bicycle along Southern Main Road, La Romaine on Tuesday afternoon when the occupants of a silver car began firing at him. He was struck in the back and legs and fell from the bicycle.

Montano raised an alarm and residents of the area contacted police officers.

Constable Roopchand and WPC Subero responded and briefly interviewed Montano who identified one of the shooters, by giving the alias name of him.

Montano was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was treated and warded.

Sgt Williams of the La Romaine police post is continuing enquiries.
