Police found stolen vans and cars, drugs, firearms, ammunition and police and army uniforms hidden in houses during an early morning raid at Oleander Drive, Pleasantville.

Up until 11.30 am today members of the Special Operation Response Team (SORT) of the TT Police Service, along with sniffer dogs from the K9 unit, had searched five houses and arrested 11 people.

The drugs and ammunition were seized and the vans and cars were impounded.

Police blocked off the street to vehicular traffic at around 1 am and residents told Newsday they awoke to the sound of their neighbours screaming.

“I was sleeping when I heard people screaming,” one resident said.

“When I looked outside I saw so much police in the street. They were everywhere. Police were pulling some men out the house and they were screaming.”

He said he saw police searching houses and carrying out large bags. “I really want to know what was in those bags.”

Another resident said she was not surprised when she saw the police.

“A lot of illegal activities are happening all over in this country. I was not really surprised that it was happening here in Pleasantville.”

As news spread throughout Pleasantville, many residents left their homes and went to Oleander Drive to see the commotion.

Earlier this month, SORT raided Regents Gardens, Westmoorings and found a large quantity of drugs in a house. Four people were arrested.
