Prison escapee suspected in Arima chopping

Arima CID police are on the hunt for several men, including a prison escapee, who they believe were involved in a chopping incident last night.

Police said, at around 11 pm a 35-year-old Arima man was driving his car near his Dump Road home, when he saw several men standing in the middle of the road. The man blew his car horn to get the men to move, but when they did not, he got out of the car to confront them.

The driver was beaten and chopped on his arm and the men ran away. He got back into the car and drove himself to the Arima hospital where he was treated and a report made to the police.

Police said the man identified one of his attackers as a 26-year-old murder accused who escaped police custody in May.
