OROPOUCHE East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal has written to House Speaker Bridgid Annisette-George requesting that Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley be referred to the Privileges Committee over his comments that the Opposition was working with Venezuelan opposition forces to torpedo the TT/Venezuela gas deal.

In the letter yesterday (copies of which were provided to the media) Moonilal referred to Rowley’s statements during the sitting of the House on December 12, 2018. “These statement were malicious, distasteful, highly irresponsible, contemptuous and unbecoming of not only a member of thos honourable House, but regretfully unfortunate, coming from no less a person than the Head of Government.”

Moonilal pointed out Rowley’s statements were made during the time alloted for question to the Prime Minister and in response to Naparima MP Rodney Charles’ question about warnings issued by opposition forces in Venezuela that they will not honour agreements entered into with the Maduro government. Rowley said: “The only place where this kind of talk is present and in vogue is in TT where the Opposition in TT is trying to get the Venezuelan opposition to torpedo an agreement between the Government of TT and the government of Venezuela for the people of TT, and there is a name for that.”

Moonilal in the letter said Rowley announced to the world as fact that the Opposition of TT is conspiring with the opposition of Venezuela to sabotage a deal which is seeks to positively affect the lives of TT citizens.
