San Juan man to be charged for over 20 sex offences

A 37-year-old San Juan man is expected to be charged later today for his role in more than 20 sexual assaults between Barataria, San Juan and Tunapuna earlier this year.

Police described the man as a "serial sex offender" and say he has targeted single women with rooms for rent, posing as a prospective tenant. He is known for breaking into houses and fondling women.

The man was put on an identification parade last week, and was identified for four out of the six crimes in Tunapuna.

He was arrested last Tuesday at a St Helena hotel where he was renting a room.

Police said the man confessed to arresting officers that he is "sick" and needs help.
