NATIONAL Security Minister Stuart Young is mourning the murder of a policeman. In a press statement issued Sunday night, several hours after PC Kryston Ramirez was shot dead at a bar in Arima, Young said:

As Minister of National Security I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family of PC Kryston Ramirez who was shot and killed this afternoon. May God bless you and provide you with strength and comfort at this time.

He also extended "sincere condolences" to the men and women of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on the loss of Officer Ramirez.

As this heinous crime is being investigated, Young said, I assure the TTPS that you have the fullest support of the Ministry of National Security. "We will not be deterred in carrying out our lawful duties and responsibilities as we tackle the criminal elements in our society."

PC Ramirez who was last posted at the Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB) was shot in the head by two men, dressed in Muslim garb at the Classic Bar in Arima. The gunmen then ran off. Up to press time, the killers remained at large.
