Robbery victim turns bandit

GUNMEN robbed a Chinese proprietress of two cash registers with $12,000, then robbed a patron of cash, car keys and a cell phone while he was playing roulette at a restaurant and bar in DeGannes Village, Siparia on Friday.

However, after the bandits left, the patron then robbed the proprietress, 21, of an additional $5,000 which was hidden under the counter. The patron, 32, who plays regularly at the restaurant placed the money in his pockets and left.

But the quick action of Siparia CID police, among them Sgt Jaggernauth, Cpl Ramlal and Moolchan, led to the arrest of the patron near the establishment. Police recovered the $5,000. The victim-turned-bandit is a construction worker. The robberies took place at about 11 am.

Police later arrested a 29-year-old man.

Both men are in custody and police are searching for two accomplices.

PC Moolchan is continuing investigations.
