AG gives out his cell number

FEELING somewhat left out by not having his mobile phone number made public by former PP minister Devant Maharaj, San Fernando West MP and Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi gave out his number to a packed room of businesspeople at the Greater San Fernando Area Chamber of Commerce's (GSFCC) Christmas function on Saturday night.

In a light-hearted mood, Al-Rawi said he called Maharaj, whom he described as his friend, to find out why he had been left out of the mass phone exposé, saying everyone one of his Cabinet and government colleagues had their numbers made public by the former minister.

“I ask you to note that whilst everyone else’s number was made public, except my colleagues opposite, and mine wasn’t, its 683-6442. You’re welcome to call, it’s been in the public domain for a very long time. So I had to call my good friend Devant, because he is my good friend, and I said to him, 'Devant boy, how you leave mih out so?', he say, 'Faris they wanted your number too bad so I didn’t give it to them'," Al-Rawi said.

Earlier, Al-Rawi said 2019 should be one of hope as economic activity in the southern city is expected to increase with several government projects set to intensify in the coming year. However he noted that this had to be coupled with investments from the private sector and cited the Anglican Church which had entered into a public/private arrangement to develop the entire bloc along Chancery Lane.

“Hope is that ingredient that binds us into continuing to persist and prevail. And there is a lot of hope for San Fernando. Economically there is a significant amount of advantage ahead of us as our cabinet has approved our waterfront development, our relocation of the PTSC yard to the OAS Construtora site, the vesting of 50 acres of land on the waterfront to Udecott and the HDC for development.”

Al-Rawi said San Fernando is unique in TT and not because it changes its parliamentarians every five years but because of the patience, temperament and diversity of its people.
