Caribbean Bottlers condemns use of company for trafficking

CARIBBEAN Bottlers TT Ltd has strongly condemned the individual or group who used the company to transport 400 kilogrammes of high-grade marijuana with an estimated street value of $4.5 million.

The marijuana was discovered in 13 black duffel bags and one crocus bag in a container in the company’s warehouse at Churchill Roosevelt Highway, Trincity.

They were hidden among cases of imported Cereza beer, which Caribbean Bottlers TT Ltd imports from Mexico and then exports to other countries.

The container in which the shipment came made a brief stop in Jamaica and it is believed that this was where the illegal substance was sneaked in.

Human resource and corporate affairs director Jillian Stephens-Borely said in a statement yesterday that the company regretted this action

“Today, Caribbean Bottlers received a shipment of products in our warehouse which contained illegal substances. We regret that any individual or group would choose to use our business for illegal purposes and we strongly condemn these actions. We immediately reported the matter to the authorities and are fully co-operating with their investigation.”
