THE OFFICE of the Prime Minister (OPM) has confirmed that the Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has received a report from the Law Association calling for a tribunal to be set up to investigate allegations of misconduct against Chief Justice Ivor Archie.

The OPM, in a brief Facebook post, said: "After Cabinet today Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley can confirm that he has received a letter dated 13 December, 2018 and documents from the Law Association of TT."

On Tuesday the Law Association voted to send a report from a committee it established to investigate allegations of misconduct against Chief Justice Ivor Archie, to the Prime Minister. The association asked Rowley to use the findings of the report to consider whether Section 137 of the Constitution can be triggered to establish a tribunal to investigate the allegations against Archie.

Law Association members voted on the matter at a special general meeting on Tuesday. After two hours, Law Association president Douglas Mendes, SC, emerged to tell reporters the motion had been carried by a vote of 150 in favour of and 32 against.
