Two possible venues named for Sex Island

AT least two islands off mainland Trinidad have been identified as possible destinations for this weekend's highly publicised "Sex Island" party.

Newsday spoke with a member of the Coast Guard, who identified Monos Island and Gaspar Grande as two islands with private jetties.

Shark Island and Huevos do not have jetties, the coastguardsman said. Renovation is currently being done on Nelson Island, which would hamper a weekend of drugs and sex with Latin and South American prostitutes.

The Coast Guard source said to their knowledge, no officials from National Security have met with the the Coast Guard about being extra-vigilant about any of the islands.

On Tuesday National Security Minister Stuart Young issued a media release saying: "I have seen the reports of a suggestion that there is to be some event taking place at an island off of the north of Trinidad, carded as a ‘Sex Island Party.’ I have asked law enforcement and Immigration to monitor this and to make it known that such an event and the suggested illegal actions to take place will NOT be tolerated by TT. The suggested illegality of drug use and prostitution is of concern to me and I have requested that positive action be taken to ascertain whether there is any veracity to the suggested event and to be extra vigilant to prevent any such event taking place.”

Good Girls, the organisers of the event, said tickets were almost sold out and encouraged would-be attendees to buy them on the group'sTwitter feed yesterday. An official told Newsday they have held similar parties in TT before and have not supplied the drugs, but everything else.

The promoters of thefour-day, three-night “sex-travaganza,” beginning tomorrow and ending Monday, told Newsday they promised patrons drugs and prostitutes, for between US$4,500 and US$6,000 per person. In a NY Post article, an organiser claimed they had been given the “go-ahead” by local authorities, which both Young and Police Commissioner Gary Griffith denied. Griffith promised to shut down the party before it even begins.

A local organiser of a similar event told Newsday his parties cost considerably less and those attending are not prostitutes but consenting adults with a certain desire that can't be openly met. The local parties are kept a secret and only members can invite outsiders. He added that local parties can cost between $300-$500 for men and $100 for women who are clothed, with free entry for the naked. The only strict rule is “no cameras,” so patrons can do anything with anyone without being photographed.
