Prisoner feigns hunger to escape police

Port of Spain CID detectives launched a manhunt on Wednesday night after a handcuffed prisoner, who was being escorted to the Besson Street police station, jumped out of the police vehicle.

Police said minutes earlier the prisoner claimed he was diabetic and wanted something to eat and two detectives decided to buy fried chicken for him.

While one officer went into the outlet, the other stood guard.

The prisoner tried to open the back door of the police vehicle, overpowered the officer and ran away with the handcuffs still on.
