THE Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) will tomorrow (Thursday) stage the second lap of its motorcade from San Fernando to Nelson Mandela Park, Port of Spain.

In a media release, MSJ's leader David Abdulah said police permission had been granted and the motorcade begins tomorrow at 8 am.

Its objective is to draw attention to last month's retrenchment at Petrotrin and Telecommunication Service of TT; wages and salaries; and unemployment, among other pressing issues.

The first leg of the motorcade began on Sunday in Point Fortin and ended at the OWTU's Paramount Building. Police permission was not granted to continue into Port of Spain on Monday.

Abdulah said yesterday, "MSJ advises that permission has been granted by the commissioner of police, Gary Griffith, for stage Two of MSJ’s motorcade For Justice, to take place this Thursday. The motorcade starts at 8 am at OWTU's Paramount Building and will proceed along the route as planned, ending at Nelson Mandela Park at 6 pm with a short address."

Abdulah added that whilst it was not MSJ's intention to defy the police, the party believes there is a need to reiterate that in a democratic country, the right to protest and expression is a legitimate one.
