MISS India TT Melissa Harrylal is in New Jersey, USA, to represent TT at the 27th Annual Miss India Worldwide Pageant. Harrylal left on Sunday to compete in the finals on Friday.
The Piparo resident said in a media release, “My journey as Miss India TT has been amazing and a life-changing experience, at first it was a bit stressful having to balance university and personal life and being an ambassador for my country. "
She thanked directors Mahindra Rampersad and Erica Caton for their efforts in preparing her for the international pageant.
Noting the benefits she has gained from the competition, Harrylal said, “Being Miss India TT has built my self-confidence and changed my outlook on life. I have grown from the shy and quiet girl into the outstanding, outspoken, charismatic individual that I am today with more life skills experience that will help for the rest of my life."
It will be the first time Harrylal is travelling outside of TT and she said competing is a dream come true.
"I am really excited and I cannot wait to meet the other delegates and show the world what TT has to offer,” she said.
