AUTHORITIES in the US State of Massachusetts are looking for a man who reportedly shipped a package filled with live reptiles to TT earlier this year.

Boston news site WHDH reported the man attempted to ship the reptiles from the town of Dedham which is located on the south west border of the state's capital Boston.

The suspect allegedly declared the reptiles as “household appliances” when he mailed the package via FedEx in July the article said, quoting the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council. Various live reptiles were found hidden inside the package when it was later intercepted by US Customs and Border Protection officers in Puerto Rico; the types of reptiles were not identified in the article.

The suspect is accused of violating the Endangered Species Act. The list of endangered reptiles in the US include boas, lizards, a gecko as well as sea turtles including green, leatherbacks, loggerhead, hawksbill and kemp's ridley.

Anyone who recognised the man is asked to contact US Fish and Wildlife Service at 617-889-6616.
