South Western Division police are investigating the break-in at and larceny of valuables from two former Petrotrin compounds, now under the management of Heritage Petroleum.

Investigators believe the bandits are stealing items with the intention of earning quick cash.

In the first incident around 9.54 am on Sunday, security officers with Amalgamated Security Services were on patrol at Forest Reserve, Fyzabad. When they checked one of the buildings, they discovered an office broken into. A further check revealed a computer, a power washer, and other valuables were stolen.

In the second incident around 2 pm on Sunday at Santa Flora, private contractors were doing routine maintenance work when they saw a quantity of copper wire missing from an electrical transformer. The value of the copper is yet to be ascertained. A report was made at the Santa Flora police station.
