LEFT-HANDED Jeremy Solozano showed form ahead of the West Indies Regional Four-Day Tournament, slamming a century on day one of a TT Red Force three-day warm up match, at the National Cricket Centre in Couva, yesterday.

Solozano struck 125 off 217 deliveries to help the Cariah XI to a solid total of 282 for six at stumps against the Khan XI. Solozano, who spent exactly five hours at the crease, cracked 11 fours and one six. Some of the other top and middle order batsmen failed to deliver including Kyle Hope (11), Isaiah Rajah (eight), Jason Mohammed (nine) and Yannic Cariah (21) all fell relatively cheaply to leave the Cariah XI on 95/4.

Solozano then found an able partner in Joshua Da Silva, as the pair added 75 runs for the fifth wicket. Da Silva fell leg before wicket to left-arm spinner Ricky Jaipaul for 37 with the score on 170, before Tion Webster joined Solozano. Webster and Solozano then put on 109 for the sixth wicket, before the latter was caught by Jaipaul to give off spinner Bryan Charles the wicket just before the close. Webster closed on an unbeaten 62 off 71 balls with six fours and four sixes.

Jaipaul snatched three for 68 in 17 overs and Charles took 3/63 in 16 overs. The TT Red Force will play the Windward Islands Volcanoes in their first match of the four-day regional tournament from Thursday to December 16 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

Cariah XI 282/6 (75 overs) (Jeremy Solozano 125, Tion Webster 62 not out, Joshua Da Silva 37; Ricky Jaipaul 3/68, Bryan Charles 3/63) vs Khan XI
