Four in Westmoorings drug bust charged

FOUR of the five people who were arrested in relation to a million-dollar drug bust in Westmoorings on Tuesday have been charged.

Krystiana Sankar, Aruba Eligon, Jervon Cole and Yannis “Pebbles” Augustine were all charged with possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Sankar was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition. They are expected to appear before a Port of Spain magistrate on Friday.

On Tuesday, the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) raided a house in Regents Gardens, Westmoorings. During the search, the police found quantities of marijuana and cocaine, later estimated at $15 million.

They also found a firearm in a safe on the compound.

Newsday was told the fifth person arrested, who was driving a BMW close by, was released from police custody as there was no way to link him with the drugs found in the house.

Sankar was also the victim of a kidnapping in April this year. She was subsequently released unharmed.
