Great care for first-time moms at Sando hospital

THE EDITOR: It is quite an honour to shout out the staff at the San Fernando General Hospital. My sincere thanks and appreciation to these six departments on a job well done:

Maternal and Child Health Clinic: Many lessons were taught to us first-time mothers in this clinic. The nurses were humble and explained everything in detail to us. I enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions when we weren’t sure what to expect with our first pregnancy. Nurse Joanne and all the other nurses took time to listen and answer each question to the best of their ability.

Antenatel Clinic: Exceptional work ethics were displayed by Nurse Dolly who on her night shift walked around to every bed and made us women feel comfortable and enjoy every bit of the pregnancy. May God bless her richly.

Prenatal Unit: My genuine appreciation goes out to Dr Ryan Charles, Dr Petal Latchman and Dr Nadia Dowlath on a job well done. Your humble demeanour in my pregnancy process will always be remembered. Thank you also to Dr Boodram who went way beyond the call of duty to assist me. Your pleasant personality and human touch were greatly admired and for this I say thank you very much.

Postnatel Clinic: These young, vibrant nurses made us first-time mothers so at peace and nothing was never a problem for them. They performed their duties with a smile and treated us with great respect. I say kudos to them: Nurse Ayanna Dillon, Nurse Alana Swann, Nurse Abigail, Nurse Friday and Nurse Sherry, just to name a few.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: Dr Barry O’Donoghue and his team, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking so much care and attention of all those little ones when things were looking a bit grim. You have brought my baby thus far and he is improving day by day.

Lactation Room: Nurse John and Nurse Simone, you both have done the first part of teaching us first-time mothers the art of breastfeeding. Thank you for your warm hospitality and patience in the process. Many new friendships developed in this little room where mothers shared their experiences with each other.

Today, I would not be here without the help of the stunning doctors and nurses of the San Fernando General Hospital, so I say God bless you all and thank you very much for such a great first-time experience which will never be forgotten.
